Meet Kirsty Middleton - Social Road Rides Representative

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

We are delighted to be welcoming Kirsty Middleton onto the RLSCC Committee as our Social Road Rides Representative. To help us all get to know a little more about Kirsty, and her role, we've asked her a few questions as part of our Meet the Committee series.

How long have you been on the committee?

Day one! This is my first involvement with the RLSCC Committee. But don’t worry I’ve had previous experience with my old University Kayaking Club!

What does your role entail?

As I see it my role is to support our club members in any way I can. Making sure everyone is kept up to date with latest developments, being a point of contact for all, but most importantly making sure there are some great events for us all to get involved with.

What is your Cycling discipline?

Road Cycling as a clubby (I’m not quick and it’s not always pretty!)

What do you ride?

The mighty Liv Langama … PS have you seen the bar tape!

How long have you been with the club?

Just under a year, since March 2022 after moving to the area at the start of that year.

What do you enjoy about the RLSCC?

By far the members! I have never been part of a cycling club before joining RLSCC, mainly being down to fear of not being good enough for one. But I can honestly say from day one everyone I’ve met since has been fantastic.

What is your most significant cycling achievement?

Maybe not that significant but a few that I will remember for a long time are cycling up Sa Calobra in Mallorca (most impressed on that one that I made it down in the first place as me and downhills aren’t the best of friends!) and completing my first 100 miler a few months ago.

Who's is your cycling hero?

Anyone that sets themselves a goal, however big or small, and achieves it deserves that title.

What cycling event or discipline would you like to have a go at?

I would like to try my hand at some more mountain biking soon and potentially some cyclocross, although that one may be a small possibility.

What is your cycling mantra?

On the worst looking days … get dressed and get out the door anyway!
