Another cold and windy day for the second round of the ART Winter Crit Series at Abingdon Airfield on last Saturday. Two RLSCC riders were at the start of the races, Alexander Craig in the Cat 4 race and Emile Glorieux in the Cat E/1/2/3 race. The series appears to continue to be very popular at the moment, and the entries were once again almost sold out.
As the races take place on an airfield, the riding is very exposed to the wind. The conditions were a bit favourable compared to last week because the wind came from the south which meant a block head/tail-wind along the long straight section of the circuit instead of crosswind.
Alex had some good legs, he rode a very strong race, kept himself well-positioned throughout the race and finished in a very nice 10th place in a field of 60 in the Cat 4 race. Emile crossed the line in 15th place after a chaotic race, during which a third of the field abandoned around the half hour mark.
