Introduction
The Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club (The Club) is a member of British Cycling and have adopted their safeguarding policies and procedures. This is primarily intended to develop a sense of awareness and guidance on safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable adults involved in activities with the club. However, this policy is also concerned about the welfare of everyone at the club irrespective of age, gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion and political view. Everyone who is involved in the club is entitled to access an enjoyable and safe environment and to have the chance to experience the excitement, challenge and achievement inherent to the sport.
Club Policies
The Club has Rider Guidelines which outline the expected behaviour of all club members while riding. Specific guidance for junior riders and their parents is available by following this link: UNDER 18s | RLSCC
A parental consent form (Consent and Information) should be completed by the parent / guardian of anyone under the age of 18 years wishing to take part in Club activities.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Club has a Welfare Officer who is responsible for ensuring that we meet British Cycling's requirements and making sure they are communicated to Members, Coaches, Parents, and Children. Our Welfare Officer will also advise the Club Committee on how best to safeguard the welfare of children and adults at risk who are participating in club activities.
Paul Thomas is the officially registered Club Welfare Officer and has been Disclosure and Barring Service checked and completed safeguarding training as required by British Cycling policy. Paul is also a member of the club committee and is seen at club events such as club rides and social events.
