The Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club 2017 AGM
Wed 3rd January
What a great night! Undeterred by the icy cold conditions, we saw the largest group of club members turn out to come along reflect upon our achievements of 2017 and exchange ideas for the club's future.
Following feedback on previous AGMs, where we followed the formalities expected of a sporting club, this year we had a major departure towards a format that was much more interactive, sociable and inclusive. Doesn’t that sound a lot more like us as a club? Well we think so, and the success of the meeting was evidence of this.
We started the evening with around 40 or so club members milling around 5 'themed' tables where we discussed the topics of club kit, road rides, club benefits, rider development and competitive cycling.
The (free!) pizza arrived within the hour, and it was actually really encouraging to have to break from the conversations to perform the necessary formalities of re-electing the committee.
The elections resulted in largely the same 2017 committee moving forward into 2018, with the notable exception of our Treasurer role now being taken up by Jason Esser, and two positions remaining unfilled on the evening. These were the Communications Officer position, as well as the newly-created clothing rep position. Bernie Tanner has stepped up to help with communications wherever he can, but if you would like to help with either of these roles then do let us know - any informal/ad hoc help is as appreciated even if you don't fancy the formal roles.
The engagement we had from all the club members continued for quite some time afterwards, which in itself shows the passion and commitment of our members to the club.
Thank you to all that attended and contributed. Your continued support of your fellow members is inspirational.
Here's to another successful year in 2018?
