THE RLSCC ACADEMY

It's never too late to develop bike handling techniques and improve your skill

RLS Cycling club developed RLSCC Academy sessions to provide young riders with fun and safe environment to introduce them to the world of cycling sport and also providing them with a platform to improve their bike handling skills.

ABOUT The RLSCC Academy
Sessions are run every week (during term time) and aim to offer the riders a chance to develop their skills and techniques, meet other riders and have fun. The sessions are based on ability of the individual rider and will ensure that no matter what level your child is at there is something within the sessions they can come along and enjoy doing.  We do have a minimum age requirement of 4 year old for your child to participate.

Within the sessions we will introduce the riders to a variety of cycling discipline techniques and encourage them to develop into different areas of cycling as a sport. Sessions are aimed at the under 16's, however if you are an adult looking for coaching please contact us, we will always look to assist.

RLS Cycling Club actively encourage riders to participate in local events. In the past we have had a team of Under 9's competing in the off road Summer Classic MTB race at Cannock Chase and also a team of Peddlamaniacs taking part in Cyclocross and MTB racing over at Adventure Sports in Warwick. With Specific off road coaching sessions beforehand enabled the riders to gain the skills they needed to confidently take part in the events.

RLS Cycling Club is a registered British Cycling Go Ride club and all sessions take place under the Go Ride club status. We would like to introduce riders to the elements of Go Ride Racing too and this is something that the coaching team at RLSCC are currently working on - watch this space for more details on this. Please find info here on British Cycling’s Go Ride Programme for young people

RLSCC Academy First Session - 9.30-10.15am
These sessions are aimed at children age 4+ that are not yet pedalling independently. The sessions aim is to give the children the balance and skills to progress to pedalling. Using activities and games that will increase balance and control/handling of his/her bike.

Children can take part in these sessions with a balance bike or the use of their own two wheeled bike without pedals. (We can help you remove pedals from your child’s bike if needed)
There is no maximum age limit to the session for people wanting to learn to ride and groups are based on level of individual’s ability.

RLSCC Academy Second Session - 10.30-11.30am
This is intended for children that are able to pedal and want to develop their cycling skills. The sessions are varied and typically involve fundamental cycling techniques learnt through a series of games and activities that will increase the riders bike handling skills and also confidence.  The groups are based on ability and kids of all ages are welcome to join the group.
