Committee Members and responsibilities

The committee has been structured to ensure every member from any discipline can air their views to a committee member with likeminded interests.

Chairperson: Dave Newton

• Set the strategic direction of the club and lead the club Development Plan
• Ensure the vision and purpose of the club are paramount at all times
• Ensure the club abides by the constitution and rules
• Chair Committee meetings and ensure that the Committee functions properly so that effective decisions are made and carried out.
• Present a Review of the Year at the AGM

Treasurer: Jason Esser

• Maintain an overview of the club’s financial affairs, ensuring its viability
• Ensure that proper financial records are maintained
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation e.g. Companies and Charity legislation
• Arrange an independent audit of the annual accounts by a non-committee member
• Present the annual accounts at the AGM

Secretary: Sarah Walker

• Support the Chair in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Committee e.g. prepare  and circulate agenda and papers, and minute meetings
• Ensure that the club complies with the requirements of affiliating bodies e.g. British Cycling and that affiliations are paid in a timely manner to external bodies
• Act as the point of contact for outside agencies communicating with the club, replying to general correspondence or distributing to appropriate Committee Members

Club Welfare Officer: Simon Bennett

• Promote the club’s policy and procedures for the protection of children and vulnerable adults
• Make available for distribution information such as policy and codes of conduct to members, parents and young people
• Support the registration of all personnel involved in activities for young people within the club
• Receive, record and pass on to the British Cycling Child Protection Officer, any concerns relating to the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults

Membership Secretary: Emily Tuff

• Maintain an up to date database of active members
• Process new membership applications and send out welcome packs
• Raise with the committee any membership related queries from prospective members or members
• To store and use membership data in accordance with data protection regulations and other policies laid down by the club
• To support the Secretary in the smooth functioning of the Committee

MTB Rep x 2: Chris Slevin and Richard Bedford

• Promote the club off-road rides on social media each week and communicate any particular information regarding each ride
• Represent the interests of the MTB riding community at committee meetings, including raising any queries from members
• Work with the MTB riding membership to try and obtain a ride navigator ahead of each ride
• Ensure ride navigators are made aware of club policies relating to club rides including those regarding Membership and Children and Vulnerable Adults
• Ensure ride navigators are aware of RLSCC’s insurance cover provided by BC

Road Rep x 2: Pete Davies and Pete Medhurst

• Promote the club road rides on social media each week and communicate any particular information regarding each ride
• Represent the interests of the road cycling community at committee meetings, including raising any queries from members
• Work with the road cycling membership to try and obtain a ride navigator ahead of each ride
• Ensure ride navigators are made aware of club policies relating to club rides including those regarding Membership and Children and Vulnerable Adults
• Ensure ride navigators are aware of RLSCC’s insurance cover provided by BC

Communications Officer: TBC

• Develop and coordinate a Communications Plan for the club
• Advise on and develop suitable policies for club use of social media, including Twitter and the two RLSCC Facebook groups
• Gather material for and edit the club newsletter as required
• Work with the Website Administrator to ensure that the club site is up to date, and coordinate content from others when required to achieve this
• Receive content such as race reports from members and convert into press releases for the local press when appropriate

Rider Development Officer: Paul Padmore

• Promote the continual development of coaches
• Strengthen the current coaching group
• Work with Committee Members and external agencies as appropriate to ensure the coaching facilities and location are suitable or for the planned future coaching activity
• Lead the introduction of Bikeability for club members in 2017

Social Officer: Chris Barrett

• Plan and coordinate social events for club members throughout the year
• Ensure an inclusive approach to social events

Fundraising Officer: Andy Robson

• Identify and apply for funding opportunities to support the club and cycling within the Warwickshire region
• Work with MTB, Road, CX and Rider Development Officers to ensure a joined-up approach for facilities and funding across the club, and identify key areas of need

Clothing Officer: TBC

• Coordinate design, purchase and sourcing of club kit
• Coordinate kit order process
• Distribute kit to club members who purchase it and deal with all enquiries / queries?
